JST SAB Connector is a sealed compact inline automotive connector. Featuring a shorting bar safety device which connects or shorts the terminals together when separated, this high performance connector is excellent for safety critical applications.

Initially designed for Safety Restraint (SRS), Airbag systems, this product is a development of JST’s inline safety connector (others being HIC, FAB etc..) range. It is designed with safety and reliability in mind, and incorporates a 4 point rib design which provides superior performance in high vibration and challenging environments.

Available the 2 and 4 circuit variations, the SAB Connector has a current rating of 5Amps, 14V DC Voltage and operating temperature range of -40^OC to +80^OC.

Shorting bar

• The shorting bar device shorts the airbag terminals together when the connector is separated. It is employed to mitigate an open harness connection situation and thus, prevent accidental airbag deployment.

Anti-Vibration Mechanism and 4 point rib design

• The 4 point rib design and spring lock mechanism have been incorporated to provide superior performance in high vibration environments.
  

Waterproof performance

• Incorporating a JST dual seal format design.

Secure locking device - Connector Position Assurance (CPA)

• The housing has a locking feature that prevents accidental disconnection due to restricted wire routing or high environmental vibration.

Secondary retainer – Terminal position assurance (TPA)

• The Secondary Retainer or TPA feature ensures that the crimped contact has been inserted fully into the housing. It's a feature that aids the production/assembly process where it is not always easy to check that the crimped contact has been inserted correctly into the housing.

Robust contact design

• The 0.64 (025) crimp terminal box design incorporates a 4 point construction which offers a high degree of interface performance under conditions of vibration, distortion, low voltage or low current.
